Sailing in the San Juan Islands: Things to Prepare

Novel adventures are waiting if you book a ticket to go on a sailboat charter in the San Juan Islands. Before you set off on your adventure at sea, it is best to know what to expect and make preparations. That way, you can make the most of your trip and have many memorable moments to share with your friends and family.

Proper Attire

Ideally, you want to wear light clothing such as shorts and short-sleeved shirts, especially if you are making one of these trips during the summer. Make sure the fabrics are UV-resistant so that you can adequately protect your skin from the sun. And remember, you will be out on the water and temperatures change with the prevailing winds. It may be hot on shore, but cool on the water, so bring comfortable layers in a small carry bag or purse.

Wear hats that cover the head completely. Sunglasses will make your site seeing more enjoyable. You’ll also want shoes that have slip-resistant bottoms.

Medicine

Since these charters last half or full days, you’ll want to have any medications you require along with you. It may be prescription medication or just some minor pain reliever. Let the crew know about any emergency medications you might require should unusual circumstances occur.

If you don’t go on boats often, you might want to take some type of medication for seasickness. Put these medications in a sealable bag or compartment so that they don’t get wet.

By preparing well in advance, you will have nothing to worry about, and you can spend more time maximizing your adventure.
